About The O'Connor Clan

Carrigafoyle CastleThe Ancient ruling chieftains of Kerry were the O’Connor Kerry clan who took their long and noble Lineage from Ciar the first King of Kerry; the last of their great stronghold was Carrigafoyle in Ballylongford.
Danny is the first piper to have been invested by the late chieftain Con O’Connor of Manse House Co Cork; also invested was Tralee poet and writer Tommy Frank O’Connor. Danny plays at all Clann gatherings when called upon by the clan guardian.

Danny also played that day with the then Newcastlwest pipe Band under pipe major John Hunt and piping legend Seamus Hunt. The group played from Aghavallen Church to the castle some miles distant and the then composed Lion of Ciar was sounded. The Standard was lowered and the clan dispersed.
